20 Characteristics of a Real Man

Image
The issue of what makes a real man has always been a subject of debate among men and women alike* This informed my research on that subject and i came up with the following 20 characteristics: 1. A man treats women with respect. If you don’t respect women, you’re not a man. Period. 2. A man understands that greater happiness lies in helping others, not helping himself. 3. A man doesn’t stand still while the world passes him by, he continually pushes himself. 4. A man is a leader in at least one aspect of his life, whether this means his family, with his friends or just in general. But he can also follow. The world wouldn’t work if everyone was trying to lead in every aspect of life. 5. You can depend on a man. You can’t depend on a boy. 6. “You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him discover it in himself.” ~ Galileo Galilei 7. A man doesn’t need to be able to fight or to protect himself and his family physically. But it helps. He does however need to be wil...

Understanding Adolescent Behaviour

Image
Adolescence is a time of growing up fraught with change. It is a time of rapid physical growth and development, accompanied by hormonal changes that activate the development of secondary sex characteristics and bring on heightened sexuality and new emotions. As parents we stand a better chance of handling our children’s growing pains during this stage if we understand what is happening to them. The central task during adolescence is acquiring more independence. At around age twelve or thirteen, a child begins to grasp an understanding of the larger world outside his family. He becomes sensitive to things that are going on elsewhere in the world and has an inner aching from the realization that one day he will stand in that world as an adult. This notion is both exciting and scary. It is exciting because of the anticipation of gaining adult privileges and scary because of self-doubts about handling adult responsibilities. This growing awareness along with the onset of puberty moves hi...

This includes being aware of everything from the words you choose to the body language you convey. Whether you're meeting new connections, team members, potential employers, or customers, I've put together a list of tips designed to help you put your best foot forward and make a killer first impression. 11 Tips for Making a Good First Impression 1) Be mindful of your body language and posture. Effective body language goes beyond simply standing up straight and having a firm handshake -- although those things are definitely important, too. Lean in when you talk to show you're actively listen...

Rhesus Incompatibility and Miscarriages among women

Image
Most times, when two persons are about to get married, they are quick to make inquiry about the genotypes of each other. That is, whether any of them is AA, AS or SS. This is viewed as very important so as to forestall the ugly situation of giving birth to SS children (sickle cell) which occurs when two persons who are both AS get married. However, little or no attention is usually given to another crucial factor in child bearing- Rhesus Incompatibility. Rhesus Factor is an antigen that exists on the surface of red blood cells in most people (about 85% of humans). It is also referred to as Rh Factor. People who have the Rh factor have “positive” (+) blood types, such as A+, O+ or B+ while those who do not have the Rh factor have “negative” (-) blood types, such as A–, O– or AB– . The “+” and “-” in front of the blood group is the Rhesus factor. Generally, we have A+, A–, B+, B–, AB+, AB–, O+ and O–. Rhesus factor is genetic in nature. It is inherited from the parents, emphatically t...
